Kodak DC215 Support amd FAQ

When I switch on my DC215, it displays "C0" on the display and the status LED remains RED. I have tried Kodak's reset procedure but it doesn't fix it.

For some reason, this is quite a common error with hundreds if not thousands of DC215 inhibiting this behaviour. The reset procedure indicated on Kodak's site typically doesn't work as they have omitted one prerequisite. It requires the download cable to be connected between the camera and a computer.

Our recommended reset procedure is as follows,

  • Place the mode switch to 'connect'.
  • Plug in the download cable and connect to your switched on PC. (You do not need any software running, it wants just the +12/-12v idle RS-232 voltages present.)
  • Press and hold power, then hold self timer, then shutter and then release power, self timer and last shutter.
  • You should get a green LED, with a rotating 'tape' like diagram on the LCD.

I have recently upgraded my computer and I have lost the Kodak Picture Easy Software and can't find my installation disk. Since the DC215 has been discontinued, is it still available for download?

The good news is yes. The software is still available for download from Kodak's site,

http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/software/dc215/new/dc215Software.jhtml

My DC215 camera currently has version 5.00 firmware and my software is V1.00. Is there any updates?

No, Version 5.00 was the only firmware ever released. It is provided on Kodak's Website for users who have corrupted their firmware.

Likewise only Version 1.00 of the software was ever released.

I would like to use a plug pack with my DC215, however Kodak only specifies a "Kodak-specified AC Adaptor, Cat No xxx-xxxx" in the manual. What is the specifications of this Plug Pack?

The DC215 camera requires a regulated 7.0VDC plug pack capable of supplying 1.8A. The tip of the DC socket is +ve, the barrel is GND.

I have lost my DC215 Serial Download Cable. Can I make one?

Yes, the wiring diagram for the Serial Cable is as follows -

What third party software is available for the DC215?

get210px is a small utility written in C for Microsoft Windows (TM) 95/98/NT/2000 that can download pictures from a Kodak DC210 digital camera using a serial connection. It is designed to be a no-nonsense downloading program which can be used anywhere, anytime. I frequently use this application and highly recommend it. (In fact I don't even bother installing Kodak's Software)
